of new links and loneliness
Added another animation to my links list.Yes,it's from Supinfocom again.
"Les Processus."
I think this is one of the best ones so far,eventhough it's black and white.But I guess it WAS the black and white that made it stronger.It looks so stylish...
Kinda reminds me of one of the Surrealism slides that Hooi Chiat showed us,the one with the men in suits floating down into a housing estate a la Mary Poppins.Forgot the title and artist,sorry...
~~~~~~
Still feel guilty about loosing my drawing board...I think I probably left it at the bus stop and it rained 2 times after that.It probably got wet and spoiled and someone threw it away...sigh...and after all the board has done for me...
Checked with the operations dept. at college for lost-and-found but they said usually it takes 2 days for an object to turn up if found at all.So I can't wait that long and I bought a new drawing board today.Sigh...I'm going to name it and take good care of it this time...
I'm going to name it "Albie".Because the first time I saw it,I thought it looked so white compared to my old board,kinda like an albino.
Aih...
In loving memory of my old drawing board.
of bad luck and procrastination
Hah!Guess what.
This morning I had a papercut.Check the list right at the bottom about things I hate,and it is specifically on the list.Hmph...there's your reward for being so hardworking to make letterform sculptures first thing in the morning.Right hand index finger somemore,now I have to do everything with my left hand and 4 fingers,and that includes figure studies.Even worse luck than LiTing...
And then,I just realised just now that I left my drawing board somewhere after letterform class.Either in the classroom or at the bus stop.Just can't believe I was forgetful enough to do that,eventhough I use that board so much.It's just RM5 but still I've bonded with my figure studies buddy you know.Mr drawing board was always there to accompany me through torturous 10 hours of figure studies throughout the night followed by another 3 hours in the morning...
and what's more,the first time I typed this I couldn't submit it and the whole entry dissapeared automatically.
~~~~~~
Also,I'm in a procrastinating mood lately.I can't seem to be able to make myself want to do manga style.Have to start on the doujin cover right after this.

"Bus stop"
Damn cute animation.

On Sunday I went to Pasar Seni as promised.Looks like they have renovated since the last time I was there.They now have a neat looking food count on the 1st floor that might have or have not been there before but anyways I didn't see it before.Also,they moved the artists to another building behind the main building,with exception of the "Thankyou"blues-untuk-aku plate painting people.(I call them that coz their style looks exactly like the comic)
Looks more visitor friendly now.
In the end I bought a batik lukis blouse(I forgot what it's called,but it's the one with the simple stitched sleeves and reaches the ankles,used as pajamas or homewear) for the student-her name's Hiroko bytheway. A batik terap sarong skirt for her second sister.And a songket pencil box for her youngest sister.Also,I bought a set of 5 chopsticks with individual songket covers for her family to use.Yes,there is a textile theme going on here.That's because one of the stall owners in Pasar Seni said Japanese like textiles.I dunno how true that is,but I guess Malaysian textiles make good souvenirs anyways.
On the way back,my mom and I sat in this RapidKL bus with an idiot driver.(Yes,I complain a lot in my blog,I'm emo.)
First the bugger ignored my mom when she asked him whether the bus goes to Subang.
Then he was rude to some Japanese tourists and didn't except their RM10 note because he didn't have change(the tickets are RM2 each,there were 2 tourists)
Then he almost forgot to let the conductor get up the bus-another driver ran after the bus and had to rap on the side of the bus to make him stop.
Then the idiot driver ignored a couple who wanted to get on the bus and drove off.
All together now,
STUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPIIIIIIEEEEDDDDDD.............

of old fashion people and plain stupid people
Hello,long time no see.
I found this article in the newspaper on Sunday that I thought was interesting enough to share if you didn't read on that day.Taken from The Star,22nd July,main section.
~~~~~~
in the sms section:
Harry Potter bk should nt be sold so cheap due 2 the best f every thing n definitely d story,most diehard fans should realize d value f the plot.Y people can spend rm110 for food,cloth or even a watch.
This is of course about the ongoing war between "Carrefour-and-Tesco" that are selling the HP7 book for RM40 less than regular bookstores ,and the "bookstores"(the publishers sold the books to them for a cheaper price than to regular bookstores), prompting some companies such as MPH to stop selling the book in protest.
But nevertheless this sms sounds pretty stupid.All I have to say is:"Shut up and read your book,person"
If people give you a better price for your goods just take it and keep quiet before they decide to raise the price again...
Also,do not forget that JK Rowling will in fact not starve to death because of the price reduction,her royalty fee will probably not even be effected in the first place anyway.The only difference is now we know how much the local bookstores have been fleecing us off our purchases, maybe up to 50% and we did not realise that until now.
I say,let the best person win.
Also,I say the HP7 book is still cheaper after the rage has gone down.
And I say,save your RM40 for you education fund.
the next sms below that one just now reads,in contrary:
"In business,competitive pricing is essential to attract customers.Sell cheaper ,n u get more customers.Thk u to Carrefour and Tesco for making d book affordable to poorer parents."
That,people,is what I'm talking about.Anyway,ask any arts person(visual/audio/performing/literature,etc) and they would say they'd gladly sell their products for a lower price but to more people ,than to sell it expensive and have less viewers in the end.
of boringness and more boringness
I'm just posting this because I am bored.Very bored.Very very bored.
I'm in the middle of drawing thumbnails for Irwin and so far I have ate ice cream,procrastinated,drank milo ,procrastinated,and ate sardine sandwiches.(It's my supper because I am not going to sleep tonight,as usual)Then I started to arrange the elements for the thumbnails and procrastinated somemore.
So far everyone else that I msn-ed are not enjoying their jolly thumbnail drawing either.
Duh.
Who would.
~~~~~~
On Sunday I'll be going to Pasar Seni to buy souvenirs to give to the exchange student and family.So that only leaves Saturday for me to do my figures.I think now is the right time to apply my drama knowledge and stage a drama about misplacing my "4th piece of figures assignment" for Sarah.
~~~~~~
To make matter worse,XiaXun msn-ed me and told me that he went to Starbucks with SookCheng and co. .I think he did that on purpose.I shall have to plot an ingenious plan to somehow make him jealous of my "super fun thumbnail drawing session" today and want to have that drawing session so badly,so that I can get my revenge.
of updates and beans
updated my links list.I was searching for animations to download today and came across a few with what I think is very good storylines.Simple but reaches the objective of an animation-to make the audience have a certain reaction towards it.
~~~~~~
I feel as if I have a split personality.One personality which is a dictator with high standards.Because it is as everybody says,your toughest critic is yourself.The other the soft boiled bean victim who has to comply.The soft boiled bean knows the dictator is doing what's right for the both of them but it's just difficult to keep up sometimes.

of Transformers and moles
Finally watched Transformers today.
Hrm...so,how was it??? I liked the starting part a lot,with all the dramatic animated special effects and the dramatic music.After sitting thru the 2 1/2 hours all I could think of was:"No way I'm going to be able do all that after graduating,man"
...
...
...
I'll try.
Went with Sook Cheng,Xia Xun and one of XX's friends.It was kinda like a belated birthday party for Sook.Had fun,we were supposed to watch the movie at Pyramid but for some unknown reason we ended up at 1 Utama in the end anyway because XX is a crazy person who drives in and out of shopping complexes without doing anything in the mall.Later we had a sort of banquet in the cinema(by my standards anyways).Only people like them buy fruit juice and drink the juice from McD cups that they shamelessly asked for free(and bear in mind that the juice was smuggled into the cinema and served out secretively by bending over the seats).Later,we had dinner in technically 5 minutes,by driving thru McD's and eating in the car because Sook had to rush home to see off her brother who's going to the UK for further studies today.
Also,I met Joyce,LiTing,Desmond,YaoRong and sekalian at 1 Utama.Somehow I had a feeling that I would meet them.Hmm...small small world.
~~~~~~
Just now I was watching this documentary that my dad was watching.I saw this family of shrews,with the mom and kiddy shrews.Their method of moving together and making sure that noone is left behind is by biting on to each others tails,like what the elephants did in the Jungle Book.So cute...
Also the documentary featured a mole which I also thought was cute...I dunno,it's just something about small furry animals with short legs,I think...
oh,look,I broke my chain of daily blogs for the first time.
~~~~~~
getting seriously sick of figures by now.Spent the whole time doing figures last night and thinking about how much I miss sleep at the same time...also,my sore throat developed into a runny nose and cough as well by the early hours of the morning.Also,I ran out of baked beans while doing figures last night and had to eat msg saturated maggi mee for supper instead.Also,I am not satisfied with this week's results...like,WTH...my naked guy looks like Lennard(comment by Yilyn)....*sob*...and my girly had one eye bigger than the other.Also,I didn't scan the top 2 pieces of the week to put in dA.Also,I was a bit giddy the whole day today...
On the other hand,today's charcoal drawings was easier than expected and the charcoal actually is easy to control...surprisingly.Last term when I was usind charcoal for drawing class I thought the charcoal had a personal problem with me... then again it was a different stick.
~~~~~~
Just noticed how close the end of the term is.Which means...
...
...
...
many projects will be due soooooooooonnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AaaaaaaAAAAAAaaaaaaa..........Nisa better be right that 3rd term is easier than this...can't bear this assignments piling up exponentially anymooooooreeeeeee........
of hosting and bonodoris
The Lions club might be changing the student hosting schedule so that the selangor hosts can have a longer time hosting and the Perak people less time.Right now the schedule is very unbalanced.The Perak people are hosting for 10 days while the Selangor people are hosting for maybe 2 days if you minus the Youth camp and commuting time.
~~~~~~
Also,everybody is at Bon Odori today except me.

~~~~~~
kali ini saya akan blog dalam BMelayu supaya orang asing yang mungkin tersinggung perasaan tidak akan terbaca...
Tadi saya tengah buat reference untuk si Irwin untuk projek 'Before and after" subjek reka bentuk.Topik saya berkaitan perang,lalu saya cari reference berkaitan WW2,sebab WW2 sangat drama,kan,dengan si hitler dan konco konco nya.Jadi saya pergi cari buku tentang khemah mati.Gambar gambar dia dahsyat sangah weh,kejam betul.Gambar gambar kubur massa,mayat,orang yang tengah kena tembak(pembunuhnya senyum pulak tu,sadis betul) kalau sebelum ini tak pernah nampak gambarnya, tak boleh terfikir pun manusia boleh berbuat demikian...
~~~~~~
I'm so proud of myself for being able to remember my Bahasa Melayu.
~~~~~~
The last link to Robert Miles' Children didn't work,so link out from my recommended videos list if you want to see it.
Just an add on to the last post because I forgot...
Does anyone remember this particular song,the title is "Children".It is a piano song that was released quite awhile ago,between 1990~2000.I love that song,but dunno who's song is that.I just remember the video clip had this little girl sitting in the back seat of a car and the video of her was playing in fast motion.
~~~~~~
Also,I discovered some books on Art Noveau in the college library.Just makes me think about Alphonse Mucha.Oh,wait a minute....everything makes me think of Alphonse Mucha...
Also,I saw Zi Hou in the library again for the 2nd consecutive time.I think he goes there every day...oh,wait a minute,it's Zi Hou after all...

Lolllllll....lol...

~~~~~~
And,likeohmygod...
today I fell in love with the library book.It's called 'Illustrators 24' and it's very thick and falling apart at all possible places but you've (ok,fine,I)never seen anything so sexy since Alphonse Mucha
of hair colours and things to dos
I dyed my hair!
it's supposed to be purple but for some reason it looks like my last hair colour,which was red,which looked like brown.
Hmph...next time if I'm daring enough to maybe spoil my hair,I'll go straight for grey.Yesterday by chance I met someone at my college with grey hair too.But his grey had a little bit of blonde/green/blue ish tinges to them.Quite cool...
Oh,incidentally,this picture is Dorian Grey.Dunno who's the artist though.The past pictures were all by Alphonse Mucha.The website's in my links.Just though I should mention it before I get sued or haunted.
~~~~~~
Things to do!!!!!!!:
-4 figures for Sarah
-unlimited number of crap for Leo
-layout and element references for Irwin
-1 functional art thumbnail for Irene
-at least 1 Surrealism character design for Hooi Chiat
-1 manga preview,3 inks and 2 sketched for ANISAAAAAA!!!!!!
-fill in the forms for majoring in college.And I dunno how to do that.
GaaaaaAAAAAAaaaaAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

of origins and scandals
I feel like I'm in yet another mood swing again today...
I feel undecided whether I concider myself to be talented or untalented.
I'm not sure whether people are sometimes jealous of me or do they look down on me
I don't know whether i am judging my talents from a correct perspective.Maybe I'm just visualising my talent to be the same as the people I idolise,or am I judging myself fairly?
I'm always very unsure.
I guess it was that self evaluation form given by the college about our strengths and weaknesses in art to help us choose a major.I realised I don't know how to answer the questions.maybe I don't really know my own art style or maybe I know it too well until I am unsure of how to answer questions about my strenghts and weaknesses in a simple way.
The only thing i'm sure about is that I don't want people to think that I was born with a 'flair' in art (or whatever it is).I mean,there is no such thing as being born with talents pre installed.That's why people say that everybody is born an artist,the problem is how to maintain that artisticness through to adulthood.What matters is interest.i feel that some people might not realise that my artwork used to suck big time (not claiming that I am talented now either.If you want to see real talent,refer to my recommended links list.Now THAT's talent) but I worked hard through my childhood to get to where I am now.In my opinion it isn't even about the priviledge of getting to go to art class from an early age.Art class can just teach you so much,but any more than that requires your own initiative.
I remember when I was in Form 2 I got interested in manga.At first I did not know even a little bit about it.I learnt through copying comic book drawings repetitively everday,keeping sketchbook after sketchbook of my manga studies.I also observed mangakas that I admired and looked at traits that I liked particularly,wanting to join all the good parts to make my own style.After that I wrote a long storyline for a comic and proceeded to draw that to build my own style little by little.That was about maybe 4 hours of work everday after school.I remember that it was quite a big amount of time each day because I used to listen to a radio while I drew and I could hear some songs being played over and over again.
Besides manga,in Form 4 I got a new art teacher,a graduate from TOA.She was more encouraging and let me experiment with various media and materials,compared to my previous teacher that was only concerned about the art class's tradition of purely watercolour painting( In art class I learnt crayons,which is only for the primary school kids, for 3 years and watercolours for 5 years).From that time onwards I trained myself in figure studies,poster painting,dabbled in oil painting etc. i was particularly fond of figure studies.My teacher had a very fat 'Guess?' catalogue magazine full of good references and she let me borrow it.So at that time I worked hard and did many pieces,anything that I thought would be challenging or an opportunity for me to learn something new.I guess i was opportunistic in my approach to learning art and that probably helped me the most,not some so called pre programmed talent.
Hmm...I still feel confused.I feel like I'm unintentionally calling myself talented and at the same time thinking i'm not.
It's just that I do actually live by the moto "attitude,not aptitude determines altitude".I work hard for everything I have and I want people to know that,that's all,I guess.And most of all I want people to recognise that,and yes,that part does have something to do with my frustration with my deviantArt popularity.But my whole rant was not about dA,it's general.
Sigh...
~~~~~~
In other news,today we met Pinky,our copywriting lecturer,for the first time.Today was more of an introduction.It seems that she used to work for a local radio company.Then,because she used to help promote concerts for artistes,she told us this inside story of a particular celebrity that still makes me feel very uneasy.It was about this paedophile singer (I think by that word you can guess who it is).My E1 classmates,you don't have to read any further,you know the rest.
She told us that when this singer came to KL to perform a long time back,he and his crew were booked on the top floor of a hotel in KL.Then,before arriving in KL,the singer's manager called to ask the Malaysian event organisers for a special request for this singer.The request was to prepare 5 boys between 11~13 years old,preferably of various races,to be send to the singer's room for some 'fun',in his words,but I (and Pinky)doubt that it is for regular childish fun.The request was fulfilled,and the children's parents were paid USD5000 each to keep quiet about the 'special request'.
It makes me feel sick to think about the habits of some celebrities and how they can just get away with it with their status and some money.And this time it is not one of Anisa's random incest jokes,this is real life...
of burning skin and debbieness
Owch...maybe I should think of installing something to ventilate my laptop.It tends to really overheat all the time.Not good for a student who might be using the computer for many hours on end to finish assignments.
*Irwiiiiiiiiinnnnnn...extra marks please,I burned my hands...*
Which brings me to the topic of my design workshop project.I'm supposed to do a collage like thinggummy in Adobe Illustartor and Photoshop and the topic I chose was then and now-the effects of world war 2 on art movements.I did some research at the library today and all i found was low quality black and white photos.And then I realised why.All they had at that time WAS low quality black and white cameras.What should I do?Is that a flaw or is it a quaint specialness?
~~~~~~
The figure I'm doing now really looks like Debbie...

of 777s and hair dye
Oh,What do you know...
It was 07.07.07 yesterday and I didn't even notice.
Oh well.
~~~~~~
Today when I went to the library with my parents,I met a schoolmate that I had not seen for i think 3 years already,since she shifted schools.That was quite a surprise,small world,eh.
~~~~~~
Hello,how do you do?If you do not know me yet,how the hell did you get my blogspot address?Lol.
Well.For now I'm just playing around with my new blog.So far i've sucessfully put in a chotbox without much event.I'm so proud of myself.Seems that I am growing up after all. Still trying to figure out how to get a layout by myself outside of blogspot's usual layouts though.So far 2 people have tried and failed at teaching me how to do so.But everything they teach me sounds like a muddle of jargon that cannot be understood,so I will just leave the plan of redesigning my blog to another day when I am more free.How nice if I could make a layout and background from scratch,but I don't know how.And you don't have to teach me,because I probably will not understand anyways.
For now,let's do FIGURE STUDIES people!!!!!!!!! Har. Har. Har.
~~~~~~
Also, in today's news,I have bought some hair dye for my mop at the top of my head,which is currently growing greyer by the day.It was yet another 5 minute decision.My first plan was to go for dark blue,but cold colours do not last long.Also,they did not sell blue dye at the place I was shopping at.So my next plan was to go for grey.This time I did see some Gatsby dye that really tempted me.I always wanted to have grey hair or grey streaked hair (not the natural kind) but my mom advised me not to go for grey or I will look old.So finally,I went for...
...
...
...
PURPLE!!
I'll dye my hair some time when I'm free and don't have to do figures(I know,geek talk).Hopefully it will actually turn out to be as purple as is indicated on the box.The purple-er the better,but having naturally black hair has it's drawbacks.Life must be so fun for blondes.
By the way,yesterday when I was watching this Japanese drama,I saw an ad for Gatsby.I have a thing for their commercials.It's something about their gayness,or whatever Anisa calls it.It was that ad for their hair gel with this japanese actor guy with curly hair in a suit, dancing and twirling around and playing with his hair.Have you seen it?That guy's just so cute maaaaaaaann...
Also,I have a thing for guys in suits.
And for guys with curly hair.
So,you see why that commercial works for me?
~~~~~~
I will be publishing another doujin with my coursemates this year for the ComicWorld convention.Our group consists of Anisa(Aesthetica),Talissa(Kunisaki),Joe(Joesalvation/Toonikun),Zi Hao,JJ and myself.What with Anisa promoting the book in the comic fiesta forum,I think we have a chance of doing at least moderately well,eventhough we are still a new group and nobody knows up as a group yet. Nisa and Tali have their own doujinshi,and i used to have one too,though.
Then Anisa sms ed me today asking for some artworks to promote our group prior to sales,and I realised something.
I don't have any nice recent manga.
That's because I haven't been drawing manga for awhile now.I think my style has changed a lot since my last doujin amd even I am not sure what it looks like now,with the lack of practise.Hopefully it looks good though.I don't want to let our group down,especially with so many talented people,I'll probably look bad next to them.
Well,i'll just try my best and make 3 artworks as a preview to our book.
Support us,yeah?
eventhough at the time the convention takes place I will be in the land down under to visit my sisters.One of my sisters bought a new apartment where we will be staying during out trip.It looks nice in the photos.Hmm...I shall go therte for a personal inspection.tehehe.
Oh,Melbourne national art gallery,I miss you...
PS:I miss my family members in Australia and my sister's dog too,but you have to admit that Malaysian galleries lack in inspiration and VISITORS are non existant.
~~~~~~
My class is finally going to Penang after all.
AT THE SAME TIME THAT I'M GOING TO AUSTRALIA
of all times,why must be that time?
Somemore the other day in class they were discussing eating seafood in Tambun lah,BBQ and watersports on the beach lah,etc.
I tell you ah,someone must buy back some Tambun biscuits for me.......
Somemore the trip is like a farewell party for our lecturer Irene and classmate LiTing(who is going to continue her studies in Australia,ironically).
