OK,fine,I cannot post any pictures for some reason.Instead,let's talk about the rest of the week in college.

Tuesday we had Life Drawing,and guess who is our lecturer? Surprise,suprise,

And we were making fun of the illustration students who got Kin Sun.Padam muka,lah,now...

Zhou Yu was our tutor again.And it seams that his brother will be our tutor for Cartoon Character Design,so I guess we better not bully him or anything,afterwards his brother go and give us low marks for our assignments or something.Besides that,the class was ok.

And then...Wednesday was 2D animation.The lecturer was Syed,pronounced as "Sayed",as he told us.He commented that our class was so quiet.Then only I realised the entire gay gang is in Tuesday's class,leaving all the geeky geeky people in our group.Oh,well,at least we don't have PDA boy in our class.lol...

Same as the first group,got to watch that documentary about the making of Snow White.And then he made us complete 2 flip animations by next week.Gah!! Last term it was 1 animation in 2 weeks...T-T... and he said that was nothing...Somemore we have to buy the animation paper that cost RM25 per pack and then can only last for 2 or 3 assignments.

Even drawing in year 1 kalah liao lah,eventhough watercolour paper is so expensive...

Oh...this is better.Besides the friendly crap that is still there though...

Christmas day,we went to wander around HK island by tram.Even their trams are double decker,like every other mode of transport in HK.First,we stopped by Statue Square and Hong Kong bank where there was the phenomena of holiday-making Phillipino workers gathering together.They gather together with their fellow Phillipino friends and make picnic spots with corrugated cardboard or blankets ,just in the corridors and 5 foot ways.Most of them brought food and presents to celebrate Christmas.The HK residents don't mind either,prolly too used to it.

Next,we went to visit a stretch of shops selling dried seafood.When malaysians talk about dried seafood,the first thing that comes to our minds is ikan bilis and salted fish,cheap stuff right? But not here.Here,they have shark's fin (above)

Starfishes.

I never really got the concept of having a cat around fishing villages and seafood shops...but the shop owners seem to like them and have them as pets.Prolly unsold seafood can be used as cheap catfood or something.

Have you ever seen ikan bilis that expensive?? HK$ 108 is RM 54. Or maybe that wasn't ikan bilis...*shrug*

We also stopped by the nearby "Western Market"that was recommended by Lonely Planet,but there wasn't much to se.It was quite small and not all that western,one of the shops there was even selling Chinese accessories.The whole top floor of the market was filled with shops selling cloth.

Next,we walked along Hollywood road (not a very correct choice of names though) that was filled with shops selling antiques and carvings.

Along that road was the Man Mo Temple,which was used as a smallpox cure centre.We also passed by some stalls selling souvenirs and accessories,including these stone lion guardians.

With some time to spend,we went back to the templer night market,because y dad said that there would be some Chinese opera performances.Quite dissapointingly,it was only like the pic above.No costumes,no charm,just high pitched voices.It's an open air performance but you have to pay to listen.lol...

Sohs a new term of college has started.Moral was ok,although I still don't get  why the second session gets to discuss gay marriage next week and we don't. The moral teacher,Evan Ang somehow looks like Chloe...She says that she's strict but so far not proven because today was fully spent on telling stories about deformed babies and 6 year olds' attention span.

Typography fundamentals was ok,although I started feeling very stupid halfway through,i just realised how much I forgot over the holidays.Not only from Calli and letterform class but also from design workshop and prolly various other classes as well.Nooooooo.....I have a feeling I'll have to somehow study everything again or risk being lost in class and panicking while doing assignments or tests.The lecturer Sharon Lee looks strict and reminded me of Debbie upon first impressions but she's ok lah actually.Asked us to introduce ourselves again at the end of the class,which was quite useful to me actually because there are various people in my class whom I still dunno their names.Ahahahahaha...that's me...

Tomorrow is Life drawing 2...lets hope for more good looking naked models and hope that we are not too rusty,especially because i do feel rusty right now.And for the half of the class who are having 2D animation from 6.30 to 9.30 tomorrow ,good luck and don't kena raped or anything, especially the guys. Avoid dark corners and look out for stalkers/snatch thieves/sadistic librarians/Debbie oh kaaaaaaay? Muaks. Bye.

Kind of satisfied enough,but i suspect the B from culture was because of the test where i spent too much time on the first few questions and then rushed thru the rest with super duper cakar ayam handwriting,and that's saying a lot since my usual handwriting is bad enough.

Hong Kong day 8

We went to the highest point in HK island,simply known as 'The Peak". We decided to take a bus up and then the mountain train down.As usual,the hillrides on the bus was very keng.Double decker bus somemore,can see like literally 90 degrees downwards when I look out the window.

One of the main attractions at the peak is Madame Tussaud's wax museum,but we didn't go,because it was quite expensive.
So we went downhill by mountain train after that.Look at that recline man...and that is an actual train stop right there.*cue Happy Tree Friends soundtrack*
At the bottom of the hill aka city area,we went to the HK park,where there was a wedding registry.No wonder there were like prolly 5 or more marry-ing couples taking pictures all over the place.And about a gazillion cars tied with ribbons and teddy bears.And also the big group of junior orchestra members.The pic at the top was taken at the park's aviary.So clean right?

Within the park were the HK visual arts centre ,Flagstaff House Museum of teaware,and KH Lo gallery. We again mysteriously didn't spend much time at the vis art centre,just saw one gallery,which had chinese calligraphy and paintings.It was more of experimental work and looked like what TOA would have in the design dept hallway.

The Flagstaff House teaware museum was very good.On the first floor there were some ancient teaware and some posters and a video on how tea is harvested and prepared.Quite cool,i didn't know that there were so many ways of preparing tea.The one i remember was the Tang dynasty that prepared frothy tea in salt water,and the Mongolians that put cheese in their tea.They also have free internet services there.lol.Anyways,on the 2nd floor,there was an exhibition on contemporary teaware designs.Think of visual communication sculptures made into teapots and you're nearly there.We didn't stay to see all though,eventhough i thought they were very interesting.

The KH Lo gallery as quite small and only had one gallery,featuring ancient Chinese porcelain ware and cop mohor.I couldn't really appreciate it though.

Then there's the part where I suddenly like HK a whole lot ,because they have so many little galleries and parks everywhere,and they are always free,or at least free on certain days.I suggest that DG71 goes to HK and go and geek out there at the art galleries and oogle the little boys *ahem* I mean ,men,and go shopping for sex toys *ahem* I mean unique clothes

After that,we went to the nearby HK botanical and zoological garden.They really meant the zoological part,it was practically a free zoo.

The orang utans being very subdued.I think they gave up after the constant emo howling from the siamang monkeys next door.Siamang monkeys are really super emo.There was a group of tourists immitating them though.They just went oOOOOOooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOOooooooOOOOOooooooooOO and could be heard from anywhere in the park

Back in Kowloon side,we finally went to Goods Of Desire in Harbour City shopping complex.It was divided into 2 parts,the furniture part and the clothes and etc part.The furniture part was a lot like a mini Ikea,but with more style.The staff all wore this black traditional clothing thinggy that looks like those Vietnamese women's traditional clothes.Made them look like priests somewhat but it was cool.eventually bought those black delay no more flipflops.Doubt I'll be using them tho,except to go to sandy places like Sunway Lagoon or Penang *hinthint*
In the evening we wanted to see the Christmas countdown.The problem was,we didn't know where the actual countdown and performance were,so we just walked around with the whole crowd.Most roads around Tsim Sha Tsui,where the celebration was going on,were closed,and instead there was one way traffic flow of humans,as in really one side of the street only goes one direction.Observe above picture.That's in a subway.Even the person in a wheelchair couldn't use the lift because other selfish people didn't want to use the crowded stairs and piled in first.

Anyways,in the end we decided to just watch the countdown from the tv,since we couldn't find any live performances.Most people,i suspect,were just hanging around with family/friends/bf gf and they also don't know where's the performances.Ironically the only performance we saw that night was the carolling at the church right in front of our guest house.We didn't even realise there was a church there.But in the end also we somehow missed the countdown on TV,or maybe they didn't show it.*shrug*Anyways,it was nice to experience "crowd" HK style.(you basically take any crowd and times it by 1000000678367864)
