Hong Kong day 9

Man Mo Temple entrance carving

Christmas day,we went to wander around HK island by tram.Even their trams are double decker, like every other mode of transport in HK.First,we stopped by Statue Square and Hong Kong bank where there was the phenomena of holiday-making Phillipino workers gathering together. They gather together with their fellow Phillipino friends and make picnic spots with corrugated cardboard or blankets ,just in the corridors and 5 foot ways. Most of them brought food and presents to celebrate Christmas. The HK residents don't mind either, prolly too used to it.
Phillipino crowds.
Random pretty building.
Next,we went to visit a stretch of shops selling dried seafood. When malaysians talk about dried seafood, the first thing that comes to our minds is ikan bilis and salted fish, cheap stuff right? But not here. Here, they have shark's fin (above)
Seahorses.
Abalone.
Starfishes.
I never really got the concept of having a cat around fishing villages and seafood shops...but the shop owners seem to like them and have them as pets.Prolly unsold seafood can be used as cheap catfood or something.

Oh,look,my drinks...
Have you ever seen ikan bilis that expensive?? HK$ 108 is RM 54. Or maybe that wasn't ikan bilis...*shrug*
Dried lizards of some sort.

We also stopped by the nearby "Western Market"that was recommended by Lonely Planet, but there wasn't much to se.It was quite small and not all that western, one of the shops there was even selling Chinese accessories. The whole top floor of the market was filled with shops selling cloth.

Next,we walked along Hollywood road (not a very correct choice of names though) that was filled with shops selling antiques and carvings.

Oh,look,my shop.

Along that road was the Man Mo Temple, which was used as a smallpox cure centre. We also passed by some stalls selling souvenirs and accessories, including these stone lion guardians.

With some time to spend,we went back to the templer night market, because y dad said that there would be some Chinese opera performances.Quite dissapointingly,it was only like the pic above. No costumes,no charm, just high pitched voices. It's an open air performance but you have to pay to listen.lol...

Sohs a new term of college has started.Moral was ok,although I still don't get  why the second session gets to discuss gay marriage next week and we don't. The moral teacher,Evan Ang somehow looks like Chloe...She says that she's strict but so far not proven because today was fully spent on telling stories about deformed babies and 6 year olds' attention span.

Typography fundamentals was ok,although I started feeling very stupid halfway through,i just realised how much I forgot over the holidays. Not only from Calli and letterform class but also from design workshop and prolly various other classes as well.Nooooooo.....I have a feeling I'll have to somehow study everything again or risk being lost in class and panicking while doing assignments or tests. The lecturer Sharon Lee looks strict and reminded me of Debbie upon first impressions but she's ok lah actually.Asked us to introduce ourselves again at the end of the class, which was quite useful to me actually because there are various people in my class whom I still dunno their names.Ahahahahaha...that's me...

Tomorrow is Life drawing 2...lets hope for more good looking naked models and hope that we are not too rusty, especially because i do feel rusty right now.And for the half of the class who are having 2D animation from 6.30 to 9.30 tomorrow ,good luck and don't kena raped or anything, especially the guys. Avoid dark corners and look out for stalkers/snatch thieves/sadistic librarians/Debbie oh kaaaaaaay? Muaks. Bye.

Oh,yeah,and last term's results:
Life Drawing.........................A-
Visual Communication........A
Perspective Studies..............A
Cult.n soc. in Malaysia.........B

Kind of satisfied enough, but i suspect the B from culture was because of the test where i spent too much time on the first few questions and then rushed thru the rest with super duper cakar ayam handwriting, and that's saying a lot since my usual handwriting is bad enough.

Hong Kong day 8

We went to the highest point in HK island, simply known as 'The Peak". We decided to take a bus up and then the mountain train down.As usual, the hillrides on the bus was very keng.Double decker bus somemore, can see like literally 90 degrees downwards when I look out the window.

Whee...jakun photo from the 2nd deck of the bus.Still in the city.
More unbalanced buildings. Some people just don't study physics nowadays...sigh...
Mheeeeehhkkhhhh... a sheep scultupe i found in the lookout tower's toilet.Look,it has the same bimbotic smile as Sook's lion.
The funky toilet door.
The view from the top of the look out deck.Quite expensive to come up to the deck tho, should have just stayed at the bottom of the tower to look out, still can see the same scenery.
There was a wall of photos at the deck, from some photography competition. Here's one of them.
One of the most retarded ideas I've come across.A hiking festival up the highest peak in HK.
The look out deck.

One of the main attractions at the peak is Madame Tussaud's wax museum, but we didn't go,because it was quite expensive.
So we went downhill by mountain train after that.Look at that recline man...and that is an actual train stop right there.*cue Happy Tree Friends soundtrack*
At the bottom of the hill aka city area,we went to the HK park, where there was a wedding registry. No wonder there were like prolly 5 or more marry-ing couples taking pictures all over the place. And about a gazillion cars tied with ribbons and teddy bears. And also the big group of junior orchestra members. The pic at the top was taken at the park's aviary. So clean right?
The fish pond, and the gay terrapins.seme/uke/seme/uke.lol...
The pond.That building,I think it's a cafe or something.

Within the park were the HK visual arts centre ,Flagstaff House Museum of teaware, and KH Lo gallery. We again mysteriously didn't spend much time at the vis art centre, just saw one gallery, which had chinese calligraphy and paintings. It was more of experimental work and looked like what TOA would have in the design dept hallway.

The Flagstaff House teaware museum was very good.On the first floor there were some ancient teaware and some posters and a video on how tea is harvested and prepared.Quite cool,i didn't know that there were so many ways of preparing tea.The one i remember was the Tang dynasty that prepared frothy tea in salt water, and the Mongolians that put cheese in their tea. They also have free internet services there.lol.Anyways,on the 2nd floor, there was an exhibition on contemporary teaware designs.Think of visual communication sculptures made into teapots and you're nearly there. We didn't stay to see all though, eventhough i thought they were very interesting.

The KH Lo gallery as quite small and only had one gallery, featuring ancient Chinese porcelain ware and cop mohor.I couldn't really appreciate it though.

Then there's the part where I suddenly like HK a whole lot ,because they have so many little galleries and parks everywhere, and they are always free,or at least free on certain days.I suggest that DG71 goes to HK and go and geek out there at the art galleries and oogle the little boys *ahem* I mean ,men, and go shopping for sex toys *ahem* I mean unique clothes

After that,we went to the nearby HK botanical and zoological garden. They really meant the zoological part,it was practically a free zoo.
look, leopard. He got up to pose for us too!
pink flamingos bitching out at the drinking hole.
"And then, like, she was totally showing off her new pink feathers and stuff and like, what was that? i mean, like, helloo"
"Yeah,I like,so totally agree,girlfriend"
"Yeah,like,whatever..."
The orang utans being very subdued.I think they gave up after the constant emo howling from the siamang monkeys next door.Siamang monkeys are really super emo. There was a group of tourists immitating them though. They just went oOOOOOooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOOooooooOOOOOooooooooOO and could be heard from anywhere in the park

Back in Kowloon side,we finally went to Goods Of Desire in Harbour City shopping complex. It was divided into 2 parts, the furniture part and the clothes and etc part. The furniture part was a lot like a mini Ikea, but with more style. The staff all wore this black traditional clothing thinggy that looks like those Vietnamese women's traditional clothes.Made them look like priests somewhat but it was cool.eventually bought those black delay no more flipflops.Doubt I'll be using them tho, except to go to sandy places like Sunway Lagoon or Penang *hinthint*
In the evening we wanted to see the Christmas countdown. The problem was,we didn't know where the actual countdown and performance were,so we just walked around with the whole crowd. Most roads around Tsim Sha Tsui, where the celebration was going on,were closed, and instead there was one way traffic flow of humans,as in really one side of the street only goes one direction.Observe above picture. That's in a subway.Even the person in a wheelchair couldn't use the lift because other selfish people didn't want to use the crowded stairs and piled in first.
Crowd control police and their sexy backs...I dunno what's with the hairstyle and the hat
Oh noes...this guy is everywhere...

Anyways,in the end we decided to just watch the countdown from the tv,since we couldn't find any live performances. Most people,i suspect, were just hanging around with family/friends/bf gf and they also don't know where's the performances.Ironically the only performance we saw that night was the carolling at the church right in front of our guest house. We didn't even realise there was a church there. But in the end also we somehow missed the countdown on TV,or maybe they didn't show it.*shrug*Anyways,it was nice to experience "crowd" HK style.(you basically take any crowd and times it by 1000000678367864)

This is the result of the last day of the holidays with nothing else better to do:

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:24:34 PM)
once upon a time, there lived a mouse, a teacup and a wooden pig

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:25:03 PM)
they lived together on the top of a fireplace

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:25:32 PM)
the wooden accidentally fell into the fireplace while playing with the mouse

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:27:16 PM)
the mouse stupidly dived after the pig trying to catch it,but instead, the mouse fell too

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:28:34 PM)
the teacup, who was made from heat resistant material, jumped and scooped them but the mouse's tail got burnt

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:29:51 PM)
but the teacup who didn't know much, accused the wooden pig of trying to murder the mouse by chopping off it's tail

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:31:34 PM)
then the wooden pig sent an army of termites to attack the teacup, only to be eaten up by the termites themselfs. devastated, the mouse ran into the garden

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:33:11 PM)
then, the teacup suddenly concluded that it was actually the mouse who wanted to murder the pig,it was the one who pushed it into the fire and then convince it to call an army of termites to commit suicide

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:35:05 PM)
the teacup then asked the help of his kitchenware friends to join in the search for the mouse

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:39:45 PM)
the knife and the fork were hired as the snipers. The dish and the spoon were hired as forensic experts on romantic/jealous murders, and there was also a random cow that jumped over the moon for no good reason

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:42:55 PM)
thus, the all rode the cow and ran into the creepy garden with thorny vines. the mouse, who was aware of what's going on called the white rabbit to stall them group while he came up with an evil plan

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:45:53 PM)
the group eventually met the white rabbit, who was holding a pocket watch."Stop",he said.everyone stopped and looked confused. After 5 minutes of staring at the watch and doing nothing,he said,"OK,you may go,but first you have to test these melt-in-your-mouth sweets that I made

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:52:09 PM)
the knife and fork, who was really hungry ate all the sweets. the dish and spoon couldn't care less and ignored the rabbit's offer. the cow, being impatient, ran towards the tiny door blocking the way, only to get himself stuck between the room and the garden and farted

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:54:02 PM)
the force of the fart blew the rabbit away and gave it a concussion, but the knife, fork, spoon and dish all just seemed a little bit more shiny from the impact

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (9:56:28 PM)
suddenly, the knife and fork began to mutate and grew extra arms. the teacup and the rest pushed the cow's butt with all their might and eventually succeeded and ran for their dear life. then they met a bunch of clams and a really hungry walrus

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (9:58:39 PM)
the knife and fork were now a pair of swiss army knives.the spoon had pushed the cow's butt so hard that it has gotten stuck in the cow's arsehole

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:00:02 PM)
the cow died from the pain and the walrus ate him up. the clams offered their help to the rest of the team to continue looking for the mouse. meanwhile, the mouse formed an alliance with the queen of hearts and an evil alice

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:04:16 PM)
the dish was horrified that it's darling spoon was eaten together with the cow, by the walrus, that it decided to assasinate the walrus by forcing itself into the walrus' mouth

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:06:10 PM)
the dish eventually forced it's way through thus killing the walrus and the teacup who lost all his teammates continued making friends with the clams, but it seems the clams had hidden motives to help. the queen sent her deck of cards to spy on the teacup

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:09:06 PM)
meanwhile, the 2 swiss army knives found the deck of cards and had a war with them.most of the cards were slashed up but eventually a few cards teamed up and kidnapped the swiss army knives by wrapping them with their own card bodies

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:12:37 PM)
the swiss army knives enjoyed the fact that they were being wrapped up and they dissapeared from the scene just like magic. the teacup continued venturing further and ended up in the mad hatter's sadistic tea party. the teacup was horrified at the sight of all the empty and broken teacups on the table

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:14:37 PM)
but what was even more horrifying was that the broken teacups were used to kill unsuspecting happy tree friends characters. The mad hatter politely invited the teacup and the clams for a tea party.

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:20:30 PM)
the white rabbit, who is aware of the mad hatter's evil plans, came to their rescus, only to forget what he needed to do and joined in the tea party too

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:24:48 PM)
the mad hatter was overjoyed sadistically, with this new crowd.he served them absinthe instaed of tea and waited until everyone was too drunk, then he usedthe white rabbit to smash the teacup, ate the clams and hung up their shells as decoration

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:32:46 PM)
unfortunately the mad hatter missed, so the teacup ran for his life and the white rabbit escaped by blowing pepper candy towards the mad hatter's eyes. then the white rabbit threw some explosive candies towards the mad hatter. meanwhile, alice seems to have a crush on the mouse

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:35:01 PM)
the queen of hearts  who wanted to team up with alice, was dissapointed that she changed sides,so she ordered her army to chop off alice's head,as well as the mouse's head and the teacup's...whichever part... too

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:37:16 PM)
alice found out about the queen's plan and took the king as hostage, threatening to rape him if she continued with her plans.the mouse was stealing cheese in the kitchen and the white rabbit and teacup developed feelings towards each other and was dancing happily

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:39:02 PM)
while they were dancing, suddenly there was some bollywood music and the queen, the king, alice, the mouse, the army, the rabbit and the teacup were all dancing aroung bushes and trees with choreography

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:42:58 PM)
the idea of having bollywood music came from the bushes and trees, who were planning to take over the entire kingdom. the music hypnotized the queen, making her jump over a cliff, killing herself. alice took the queen's wand and became the queen and made the king her first husband and the mouse as her second husband. the army just stood there with the teacup and rabbit as the backdrop

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:46:09 PM)
the teacup was then elected as the prime minister and the rabbit as the war general. So alice started thinking up plans to take over the neighbouring countries, such as disneyland and acme, where the looney toons live

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:47:46 PM)
she started with disneyland, got rid of the witches/wizards, turning disney princesses into prostitutes, princes into her personal 'slaves' and the disney castle as her second home. she also turned the talking animals as her war buddies

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:51:34 PM)
acme was turned into a place to test and develope cutting edge weaponry .A Nazi concentration camp was also built to kill all the looney toons characters. However, the rabbit war general took bugs bunny as his husband

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:53:17 PM)
alice had a grand feast to celebrate her victory with tweety bird as the main course..sadly it wasn't enough so everyone began fighting with each other and an internal war broke up..the teacup hid underneath the table

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (10:56:52 PM)
with all the commotion going on,the mouse managed to make alice step on the teacup accidentally and break it.Then, the mouse ran off with mickey and minnie and had a threesome.

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (10:59:44 PM)
some random character accidentally spilled sweets all over the floor and everyone else started eating. the sweets made everyone fell in love with each other. bugs bunny was still busy molesting the white rabbit at a corner. the threesome continued somewhere in a private room in the castle. a random fairy came to warn alice to set things rite before 12pm. but the time was 11.59pm.

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (11:01:41 PM)
the fairy said that in order to break the spell, alice has to go back to the mouse's fireplace, find the owner of the house and kiss the owner, all within 1 minute

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (11:03:22 PM)
and so she teleported back to the house. she found the beast and grabbed him and closed her eyes and her nose (due to smelly breath) and placed the lips towards his when belle suddenly slammed upon the door and bitchslapped alice. alice kicked her away and there's still 15 seconds left

Criccy-http://www.cricetus89.deviantart.com says: (11:06:34 PM)
desperate to break the spell, alice grabbed the beast by the lips and tried to touch those puckered up chinese sausages to her own lips.belle meanwhile, was climbing up the fireplace and then jumped onto alice like in some wwf fight, slamming her to the ground.the beast felt so flattered that 2 ladies were fighting for him

đ ǒ m ĭ ň ĭ ĉ says: (11:12:17 PM)
in all the fighting, alice accidentally kissed belle while the beast kissed the sofa. belle kissed the beast while the sofa kissed alice...everything was so chaotic that the fairy decided that it was too much fun to handle. therefore, she broke the spell just to the happy ending sake

Hong Kong day 7

First,we went to the Kowloon Park, which is the nearest park to our guest house. The good thing about HK is that eventhough they have such a severe shortage of land, they still manage to put in so many parks,by building them on rooftops even if they have to.Kowloon park was, partially built on top of the ferry dock's rooftop. It was very good coz they had their pond of various ducks, hedge maze, water features, sculpture garden and such.Inside the park, there was a building called the culture centre, which is used as an art museum. We didn't stay long though, because *I think* my parents were bored. But anyways, there were some good exhibitions there, one by the National Geographic photographers, one by some American painters with the topic of Native America, and another one which was a HK collection.I think eventhough it was just a small-timer exhibition, can beat Malaysia's NAG.(see, the name is NAG,get it?)Even has more professional staff and more visitors.

I assume these are mandarin ducks.I'm not sure though.
Some flamingos in the pond. The city was just outside the fence,a few metres away.I wonder whether any flamingo has escaped before...the area is not fenced.
A water feature.
Morning taichi in the sculpture garden. There were a few grounps there, mostly doing taichi, but i think one of the groups was led by a gweilo teaching them self defence, forgot what it's called.
Next,we went to the Wong Tai Sin temple, which is the biggest in HK.It was really very crowded, but i think it's because on that day was Winter Solstice.I didn't know, until I read Sook's blog...There was what looked like a special ceremony going on,but it was too crowded to take any good pictures. There was a whole gang of Buddhist priests in the main prayer hall so visitors weren't allowed in.
In the temple's Chinese garden.
Outside the main prayer hall.
A water feature in the temple.9 dragons on the wall, forgot the significance. The pond had terrapins also, but nowhere nearly as keng as the number in the Penang temple.
The Chinese garden.
Nearby were the humongous clusters of shops that are collectively known as the Flower market,Goldfish market and Lady's market. The Flower and Goldfish markets are actually in proper shops, but the Lady's market is kind of like a pasar malam, but super huge and much more interesting.Err...to women,at least, because most of the stalls sell clothes and accessories. The pic at the top is the Flower market. It looks much better than that though.Smells good too.
The goldfish market. That's only 1 shop though.I felt like having a little pet after that.hmm...
Lady's market. And the trademark HK crowd. And this continues for several blocks radially.
Whee...better options than I Need Shop.I think Yilyn and Anisa should just collect a few thousand ringgit and fly themselves to HK.They'll be so entertained.

OK,until next time.
