Halloweeeen

Wednesday was the Halloween party at my college.Here's a picture essay

2 bands were performing,but I think this one was the better one of the 2.The other group's singer...erm...wasn't very...good...
The lead singer for this group is Anisa's darling Hafiz, sporting a Hitler moustache.Their drummer was really good too.And the band is made out of 1-term-below-us juniors.Why aren't we that cool?

Then there was the pumkin carving competition.4 groups signed up but only 3 turned up.I like this one the most...prolly only because it's the neatest.I dunno which one won.

And the cosplay competition.Oh..Tan Chin Wee...the marketing manager guy asked me if I was entering for the cosplay competition or not... T-T; .Again,many competitors suddenly dissapeared so they didn't perform that day. Also,I dunno who won,only the numbers were announced,one for the male and one for the female category.I think this costume is the most takde kerja one there.It's handmade.

There was also the worm counting contest.apparently there were 120 something worms.And at first glance I thought there were only 20.Worm staring doesn't feature very highly on my to do list. But at least the worms were the maggot-like variety,not earthworms, or else I would have cabut-ed...

With a stroke of good luck,Visual communications class was cancelled today,leaving just the 1 hour Malaysian culture class.So I decided to take my 6 hour bengkel.And just as everyone said,it was veeeeeery boring.And useless.I was at least expecting the speaker to tell us a bit about changing tyres or maintaining engines,but basically all we got was a repeat of what we had studied in the textbook.On the bright side however,we were shown the entire movie "Taxi" during our breaks and while waiting for the speech to start.I think Queen Latifah is one cool overweight black chick.How often do you see fat black women playing the strongest role? That was refreshing...

Oh damn...the class was discussing Censorship in malaysian culture class and i missed it...I somehow can imagine that Anisa and Yilyn would have a lot to say today.

I passed my undang-undang test.100%.

WooHoo!!!

Do you sometimes listen to a song and then think that you wanna make a videoclip for it so badly?? I kinda feel like that now.I think it would be nice if after graduating I could do something like that, imagine up storyboards for videoclips.Listen to music the whole day and say that you are working.

Or maybe that only feels good if the songs are good to start with?

Right now what's stuck in my head are a couple of Nightwish songs and a couple from Sarah Brightman's Harem album.Oh, and a few Evanescence ones also.I really love Nightwish lyrics, they are literally poems in themselves.The songs become more beautiful once you know what is being said.Yeah,their singer's accent is very thick.

Hmm...maybe I should work harder and try to put down my ideas on paper sometimes.I always think how come my productivity this term is so low compared to last term.Last term I managed to finish my assignments only,same as this term,except the difference is this term we have so little assignments to do.How come then I don't have any excess time for personal projects??.

I guess I have to push myself harder next time.Humans only use a small percentage of brainpower, so we are all capable of being a lot better than we are now no matter how good we are already.

Alright,then it's 200% next term no matter how tough everyone says it is.Seniors are as good as they are now,and we can be better if we try.

That last picture of Muraki sucks...I think it's a fanart.
So here's the real stuff.

The best versions of course are always the manga versions by Yoko Matsushita.Or at least her later volumes of the manga look fantastic.The problem comes when my Japanese is not competent enough and Kinokuniya likes to drink blood.

Oh,yeah, I almost forgot.
Homophobic please navigate away from this blog for a bit.
oops.
Too late.

Group pic of the main characters from Yami no Matsuei.I thought this pic looked cute.Watari looks like he's lost in a world of his own...

Which Yami no Matsuei Character Do You Relate To Most?

You are Kazutaka Muraki. No exclamation, because that sucks. Perverted, depraved and psychotic. I think you need to get over that grudge you held towards Aunt Elena for stealing your pie last year. No, seriously, you need to go somewhere far, far away and unwind. Possibly hell?

You Should Have Been Born Under:

Your most comfortable inside your head - and often daydream the day away.
You have an artistic temperament that makes you seem creative to some, eccentric to others.
You avoid conflict at all costs, and you have a difficult time with relationships.
Attractive and with good manners, you tend to shine in social situations.

You are most compatible with a Pig or Rabbit.

I got this link for a personality test from Anisa's blog.
http://www.goldinuniverse.com/

OK,fine,links don't work in my blog for some reason.
But I think the test is very accurate.Check it out.

~~~~~~
You are the sort of person that needs a peaceful environment. You seek release from stress and freedom from conflicts and disagreements, of which you seem to have had more than your fair share. But you are taking pains to control the situation by proceeding cautiously and you are right in doing so as you are a very sensitive person.
Which ever way you turn you feel that you are being utterly thwarted. There is considerable conflict in the air but you will stick to your beliefs and not be deterred in endeavouring to attain your objectives.
Loneliness is soul destroying and at this time you feel lost and lonely, perhaps it is because you feel so frustrated that you are prepared to go out of your way to become emotionally involved with someone who could accept you for what you are. You are egocentric, antagonistic and quick to take offence, although it must be said, you can control your pent-up up emotion and thus avoid open conflict.
You are pretending that the situation around you doesn't matter, but the effort of trying to conceal your emotions and anxieties is resulting in untold stress. The existing situation is disagreeable. You feel unwanted and lonely and you would really like to associate with someone whose ideals are as high as your own. You want to be above the standard of mediocrity and this need to be needed and that need to need has almost become an obsession. You are trying to magnify the need into a compelling urge. You would really like to tell the world how great you are but no, you are holding back because you feel that your peers may treat you with contempt. This is a great pity because you have in fact a unique quality of character, but the continual restraint that you impose on yourself makes you suppress this need for others and you pretend you don't really care. You treat those who criticise you with contempt. However, to be honest, beneath this assumption of indifference you really long for the approval and esteem of others.
You would like to be respected and valued for yourself and this can only be achieved from within a close and harmonious relationship.
I've finally decided to take my undang undang test on Wednesday.Seems that I work better with a schedule.If not everything will be delayed.Up till the day I booked my test everything else was more important, assignments, personal projects, comissions, dandy attacks, lepaking, catching up with last term's sleep, etc...
oh.and I'll leave you with a picture to enjoy.
Yeah.I'm still in emo mode.BTW that's the lead singer for HIM.I didn't think it was him...
Tis a season to be dandy
Ok,fine...dandy is not a good description,but let's just say female-dandy.
I just got a haircut after plenty of my mother saying that my hair is messy.So ok,fine,this time i'll make it short.Also,I decided to do the nailpolish thing.Now it's dark red that looks like black under dim lighting.And then I was beginning to think...hm..this new look would go well with eyeliner.
And then.
Poof.
The next day in college Yilyn appears with eyeliner a la Emo.
And then the day after that Anisa too appears with eyeliner.
I think I shall hawk some makeup shops now...
oh.look.an update.
As promissed, here are some pictures from the past few days that I left in my camera.
You see.On Wednesday my class has perspective test and my notes were in my camera.And the test was open book.And when I upload pictures into my computer my camera deletes pictures within itself at whim.So there you go.
First up.Sook Cheng's venture into sushi literature.
The restaurant menu was like our reference book.She chose Vannamei because she said it sounds like Vanessa Mae...
Our Chinese delicacy, wan tan a la college-kids-after-dinner.
and since we were joking about having French food and at the same time were broke,we did the next best thing.
...
...
...
make our own.
I call it Papier de soie de soie cru.
Raw tissue paper.
ah.parfait.
soh happey...
yesterday was funnnnn...
in the afternoon I went out for lunch with Amanda,Jia Lynn and Yee Mei at i-Dragon Pyramid then went window shopping.The food at i-Dragon was ok,but the service was horrible.The waiters and waiteresses were quite lan c.But the interior design was good.Their private seating areas looked a lot like some family dining areas in Melaka.
Later XiaXun and Sook Cheng decided to impromptu go to Pyramid as well, with their friends Elizabeth and Leonard.(Leonard really looks like Josh.hahah...)Anyways, we ended up in Starbucks and the group treated me to cake for my birthday.
Thanks people!!!
We saw that Hui Xian returned to work at Waffle World for the Raya holidays.I didn't know working for a few days was possible.So when we went to meet her,guess who we saw?? A primary schoolmate by the name of Wei Jie(is it spelt correctly?).He was is Sook's class in Primary 6,not my personal friend,but i vaguely remember him as "one of the pengawas in the first class"(there were a looooot of pengawas in the first class man...)
Then later when I got back, XiaXun suddenly asked me whether I wanted to go out again for a movie.lol...these people are really that impromptu.So after a quick dinner at home and a bath I went out again to 1 Utama this time.Sook and Leonard were there too,and Elizabeth had to go for a church dinner.Apparently another one of Sook's primary school friends was supposed to join us too for dinner(their dinner,not mine) but changed plans later.We were supposed to watch Hairspray but changed plans later and watched the Bourne Ultimatum instead.Seating was sad,we were in the 3rd row from the front,so we had to sort of lean back a bit and cock out heads to one side to see.And still the picture was not tha clear.Hmph...learned our lesson,next time book tickets early even if everyone is supposedly balik-ing kampung.The movie ended at around midnight and eventhough the rest of the mall was cleared of for the night,the bowling alley and carpark were still packed.So walking back to the car wasn't as much of a horror thriller as I expected it to be.You know how Malaysia is getting more and more "horror-thriller" nowadays.Especially around Taylors college.A lot of perverts with a sprinkling of robbers and midnight gangsters of foreign decend for taste.
I have a picture of a competition slip we jokingly entered at Sushi king,thanks to Sook's dramatic literary and illustratory skills,but i'll upload it later.
which Harry Potter character are you?
Take this test!
You rarely need Polyjuice potion because you're usually happy just being you! While you might not make the biggest splash or cause drama, you slowly and steadily win over lots of people who think you're pretty darn wonderful. While you can be a little shy and self-conscious at times (especially around a crush), you're probably considered to be a BFF by more than just one person.
Luckily, your talents aren't just the magic kind. You're also kind and smart and just great to be around. Looks like you'll have a very charmed life indeed!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEH!!!
18 this year and officially legal by Malaysian standards.Not the fake 'legal' as in '16 years old and legal' kind of legal,but the real legal kind of legal.
I received a package yesterday from my 2 sisters and brother in law.Good timing.hahah. And a good choice of presents as well.
First up ,the red and black themed stationary that I suspect might have been chosen by my second sister.Check out that huge red pencilcase.It's like a small pillow minus the stuffing.
i think now there might be a problem about getting myself to use stuff that looks as good as that...
Also...something that almost made me laugh...
MUCHA!
lol
you guys are gonna shoot me soon if this Mucha frenzy continues any longer.
By elimination I think that was chosen by my eldest sis and husband.
Yep.
Smiggle and SMoochy for my birthday.
~~~~~~

Then for dinner today,my parents and I were looking for seafood.But the place we wanted to go to apparently shifted to Shah Alam.Plan B restaurant wasn't open for some reason. So plan C, we ate at a coffee shop in...err...USJ 8 issit? But the butter prawns were nice.It was what they called the 'watery' kind of butter,but it was actually kind of creamy and curry-ish.I suspect there might have been mayonaise or eggs involved in the sauce.

my painter progress

just for fun,It looks ok when I zoom in but horrible when I zoom out.

Because I got the proportions wrong.

Because I couldn't see the lineart and just painted according to my assumptions.

~~~~~~
edit: OMG...they way I cropped it he looks like he's doing the "Taiwanese girl 1-2-3" pose...But I swear he's not.
oh good...
the rain is over,so now i can continue.
Today my parents were driving pass the junction to USJ Giant when we saw this group of people holding a banner to advertise a blood donation campaign.My mom was saying that most donors are Muslim,so during fasting month there's usually a shortage of donors. So I thought of a wonderfully dandy idea.
They should have a blood donation campaign with the theme of vampires,since so many people are vampire fans.Anne Rice and goth fans so forth.You know,it should be like that hospital themed bar in Tokyo.Something of a novelty and just that little bit racy.With leng chai...*ahak.*Ididnotsaythat ...donation staff dressed in vampire costumes.I can just imagine Anisa donating blood and humming absent mindedly and murmering something like "Armaaaaannnnnddddddfebwbadbaebg........"
For sure the vampire fan donors' blood will flow a bit faster if there are lengchai*ahak* I mean vampire dressed staff attending to them.
ohohohohohoooooo...now if only I can get this idea across to the health ministry.
Movie critics
edit: in a report the next day ,manufacturers claim that melamine is safe to use for eating,unless food is hot.So in short, don't use melamine...duh...
~~~~~~
I was on a movie marathon thanks to Tim Burton researching for a week. So in the end I youtubed up "The Nightmare Before Christmas"," Big Fish" and "Sleepy Hollow".

In my opinion Big Fish was the best of the three,and is fantastic by itself.It's very touching and has that rare surreal quality that i like so much.*Check out the town of Spectre* I recommend that you go watch it too.I especially like the part when the main character comes back from war.T-T.The ending of the movie is perfect.

The Nightmare before Christmas was just screaming TIM BURTON all the way.Hahah...I like the characters, especially the Mayor(I have wierd likings for characters.Of all characters, in Corpse Bride I liked Elder Gutnickt and the butler the most...).I feel so inspired to become as creative as Tim Burton one day.So prolly Burton will have the most influence on my visual com project, seeing how things are now.

Sleepy Hollow starred Johnny Depp( surprise surprise) but this time surprisingly I didn't think that he did such a good job.But the storyline was still good,(or was it the action that made it interesting?)Ahhhhhh...nothing like a good gory movie to bring out the cavewoman in you.Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, who also worked on A Series of Unfortunate Events, did a good job on this movie too, so I think I've just found a new name to add to my stalk list.

Melamine???

The other day there was an article in the Star about melamine tableware.Seems that using melamine dishes for hot food is hazardous to health because it is made of urea and formaldehyde.Hot food can make those chemicals leak out of the dishes and that can cause blindness,rashes and cancer.So...just watch out.It's those kind of material that looks like plastic,but you can check from the label at the bottom of the dish.Meanwhile,my family has replaced all our melamine (fine...except the sauce dishes,but those usually contain cold chili sauce)to porcelaine.

In other news,i was researching on Tim Burton today.I feel so inspired.I think I have to really find an individual style of my own and make it popular.This guy's incredible.Eventhough he had a lot of failures,still he made so many movies that either way a lot of them did very well and he's become a household name.
